October Benefit

Beyond the Call – Supporting the Mental Health of First Responders

FCTRT, Inc. works to minimize the emotionally detrimental affects of the worst calls. When Public Safety personnel respond to a difficult incident the lingering effects can be devastating on mental health. Help FCTRT continue to provide the interventions that have been proven to minimize and avoid post-traumatic stress.

We hope you will join us for our October 12, 2023 benefit, featuring keynote speaker Todd Blyleven. Mr. Blyleven is a former professional athlete and son of Hall of Fame pitcher Bert Blyleven. Todd’s captivating speech explores his compelling story as a civilian who risked his life to save others during the Las Vegas shooting, the struggles he faced during the aftermath, and his remarkable journey of personal growth with the help of EMDR therapy.

Todd will then moderate a panel of local First Responders, spotlighting “behind the scenes” mental health challenges faced by responders, and how FCTRT can help them to overcome these challenges. Panelists include Deputy Chief Bernie Meehan from Danbury Fire, Officer Peter Elste, CIT Coordinator/Peer Support from Danbury Police, Bonnie Rumilly, LCSW, EMT-B and Retired Captain of New Canaan EMS, and Ray Connors, former Chief of State of Connecticut Animal Control.

While enjoying fine food and drink throughout the evening, attendees will mingle with public safety professionals from fire, law enforcement, EMS and animal control. Trauma therapists from FCTRT will be present to answer questions and describe the intersection between trauma therapy and emergency response.

Accepting for Wilton Presbyterian Church: Rev. Mark Montgomery and Rev. Jessica Jones.
